Summary:
Lions at Lunchtime is one of the magic tree house series books. It is children’s adventure story and the most popular series books for kids. The author who wrote books is Mary Pope Osborne, and she was award-winning author. The goal of this book is to show that how to find lions in jungle, and it is made up 10 chapters. The main characters in this book are Jack and Annie who are schoolchild, and they have to find a lion through a book; the plains of Africa.
While Jack and Annie were going home, they looked at a tiny deer. They went there, and it was a magic house. At there, there was a Morgan who lives there, and she gave a book to them. After all, they started to look for a lion. They went out, and there was a river. Looking at the book, they wanted to search for the lion but could not find them. They read it slowly and wrote on his book what the question is. Jack and Annie also were looking for the lion. However, they ran around a bend in the river.
At that time, they fell down the river and found an elephant. The elephant was given them a shower, and sprayed much water. Jack also red his Africa book. However, even though there was not a gray bird that book, they found bees and beehavies. Jack stuck his finger in the honeycomb. At there, they met a warrior. They gave peanut butter and honey sandwich to the warrior, but he did not eat. After all, they found a big lion, and they were sleeping there. However, they did not know how to approach the lion. They tiptoed, but the lion woke up, so they climbed faster than he’d ever climbed. Finally, they opened their eyes, and it was time for lunch.
Reaction:
Before I came here in order to study English, my friend told me that if you want to improve reading skills, you should magic tree house series which wrote by Mary Pope Osborne. Even though I am an adult, I tried to read that book due to my weak English skills. Thus, I chose this book and read “Lions at Lunchtime”. Though it is not difficult for you to read this book, however, it gave me lots of expression and vocabularies. Do you remember that Parul told us choose lower level books? I knew that this book might be easy before reading the book. However, instead of my opinion, there were many vocabularies which I do not understand. Through the book, I could image how Jack and Annie find the lion. It was described specific and gave me detailed information. It was clear, and the process which looks for the lion was impressed.
Vocabulary:
Whisper(v) : to speak or say something very quietly
Delicate(adj) : easily damaged or broken
Barely(n) : a grain used for making food and alcohol
Vanish(v) : to disappear suddenly
Flit(v) : to move quickly from one place to another
Scatter(v) : to throw or drop a lot of things over a wide area
Crouch(v) : to lower your body close to the ground by bending your knees and back
I agree with you oponion the book which is lower than we level is easy to read and can improve we English skill quickly. I think this book is fun. It's talk about two children try to find a lion in the plain of Africa. They had some trouble during they found the lion, but finally they found that is a dream.
ReplyDeleteThis kind of dream is very hard to understand because it have a lot of action and is similar to magic or some thing unusual. However it amazed to have this kind of action happened in the same time. It is a vacation story that kind of story want to make attention for the reader. They are very lucky children to have this kind of dream.
