Summary:

The Riches, which wrote by Esther Hautzing, is one of the children book. Esther Hautzig is the Author of many books for children and adults. The main purpose of why I choose this book is interested in older people. There was a book sale in Lawrence, and I bought many books there. At that time, I picked it and read.
Samuel and Chaya Rivka are couple, and they lived in a small town. They have 2 sons and daughter and worked very hard every day. Samuel was puzzled but did as he was bid. As he drove throughout the countryside, he began to see that the most valuable riches in the world were not material ones. His wife, Chaya-Rivka, stocked the prettiest fabrics, yarns and trimmings on the shelves of their store. Even though they worked hard, they wanted to stop. However, Samuel could not how to decide that. After all, he met Gaon, and he recommend that how many people do that a lifetime. Samuel and his wife knew that what do they want. The praied each day for their life, and the couple were proud happy. For these couple’s fiftieth wedding anniversary, their children and grandchildren came to celebrate.

Reaction:

Through the book, I thought older people’s life and my life. Most people are getting older and older, and they want to work for a long time. Also, Samuel and Chaya Rivka worked hard, but they wanted to better life. What does that mean? Riches? Work? Sometimes, I really want to work, but I thought that even though this is so important, happy life is more important with family. We have to wise decision for our life. At that time, if we can meet mentors or friends as Gaon, we are able to make a decision how to control our life.

  1. I think this is a good book for us to read it. It tell us some truths. like, money is not the only one important part of our life. Happy also is very important. I agree with your opinion which is happy is very important part of our life. As we know sometimes is impossible to make a lot of money still have a good time during the work, but we can try in another way, like still make some money to the life and to get more happy from the work. I mean money is important but happy also very important.

Dou to your summary, I guessed this book is kind of social book. I like it. However, I have question for you. You said “ What does that mean? Riches? Work? Sometimes, I really want to work, but I thought that even though this is so important, happy life is more important with family.” Doesn’t you believe the money that is reason for happy life.
